LEARN ESSENTIAL SKILLS TO WORK IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
This Registered Training Organisation (RTO 41072) and SafeWork NSW approved White Card course provides participants with a nationally recognised White Card (general construction induction card). This allows you to work in the construction industry anywhere in Australia. Your White Card will be issued immediately after completion.
There are two sessions of the Youth White Card Certification, you only need to apply for one session.
Age
Participants must be aged between 15 - 24 years old
Course Prerequisites
School Aged - participants are required to bring their student ID or a letter from the school
Non-school attending - participants are required to have an USI number. It is easy to get. Get your USI number HERE.
There is no pre-course Learning. Everything is completed face to face at the venue on the day. Below is a downloadable link of the learner guide you will be going through on the day. You don't need to download this if you don't want, it is all covered on the day.

Arriving
Participants are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to the course commencement.
Content
Having a white card is mandatory if you want to work on construction sites in Australia. This course helps you to be ready to work safely in the construction industry.
If the assessor deems you competent, you’ll receive an interim accreditation slip on the same day as your assessment. This slip enables you to start working immediately and serves as temporary proof until your official White Card NSW arrives.
After your assessment, NWCC will notify SafeWork NSW. Your White Card will be mailed to you, usually within 2 to 3 weeks.
NWCC trainers are dedicated to your success. Trainers are available to provide you with additional support. This includes staying back to assist you with any part of the course you find challenging.
What to bring with you
All resources and equipment are provided on the day.
In NSW it is essential you meet the SafeWork NSW ID requirements of 100 points of ID. Read about the ID requirements HERE.
If you have any trouble getting a USI you can contact the USI office on 1300 857 536.
All attendees will need to scan a QR code to upload their information onto the NWCC system. Part of this information will include your USI information.
Catering
Catering will be provided for a morning tea and lunch break.
There is a microwave, cold water, coffee, tea and a fridge at the venue.
Westfield Miranda can be accessed across the road.
Clothing
Wear comfortable casual clothing. Pants and flat shoes are recommended. All PPE is provided.
Finding us, Parking & Transport
The classroom is located above Chemist Warehouse on the Kingsway. You will see a set of stairs to the left of Chemist Warehouse. As you go up the stairs, we are the first door in front of you on the right. There is limited free all-day parking at the bottom of Central Road & along Parkside Avenue. There is $4.00 all day parking in the "Diggers Carpark" behind the RSL on Penprase Lane. The condition to the $4.00 parking is you must arrive before 9:30am and leave after 2:30pm. This is suitable for all day classes.
Certified program
The White Card training program (officially known as CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is a nationally accredited unit of competency, but it also aligns with NSW Stage 5–6 learning outcomes in VET (Vocational Education and Training), Work Education, PDHPE, and Construction Curriculum Framework subjects for Years 9–12. Stage 5 (Years 9–10) VET – Construction (Preliminary Skills) Although White Card itself is not a Stage 5 qualification, participation or awareness can still support the following learning outcomes, especially through Work Education or careers modules: Work Education / Life Skills LS5-1: Identifies personal strengths, interests and skills relevant to employment. LS5-2: Demonstrates an understanding of safe practices in the workplace. LS5-4: Demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and procedures. LS5-6: Communicates appropriately in a range of work-related situations. PDHPE PD5-6: Critiques contextual factors that influence health, safety and wellbeing. PD5-9: Applies and adapts self-management skills to respond to different situations. Stage 6 (Years 11–12) VET Construction – Based on CPC Training Package Unit of Competency: CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card course) This unit is part of the Construction Curriculum Framework and contributes to the HSC and ATAR (optional) if completed as part of a formal VET pathway. Key learning outcomes from the Stage 6 Construction Curriculum Framework include: CPCPCWHS1001: Identify health and safety legislative requirements of construction work. Identify construction hazards and risk control measures. Identify health and safety communication and reporting processes. Identify incident and emergency response procedures. Work Studies (Stage 6) If the student is not in a VET course, but completes this as part of a Work Studies elective or personal development program: Outcome 1: Recognises the skills and attributes required for employment. Outcome 2: Investigates various pathways and strategies for post-school options. Outcome 4: Applies self-management and interpersonal skills in work-related contexts. Outcome 5: Demonstrates an understanding of workplace safety and industrial responsibilities. Additional Cross-Curricular Links (Optional) Life Skills / Transition Support Promotes independence and employment readiness. Supports students with disability or diverse learning needs to access workplace training in a supported way.
