About Scoolendar
Scoolendar was created by a homeschooling parent who wanted to connect to local homeschooling communities, organise social life for their child, collaborate with other families, stay organised and access all available resources and workshops for the homeschoolers in the area.
Hello, I am Karina Bright, a homeschooling parent based in Australia. As a working parent, I wanted to make life easier with the multiple tasks most homeschooling parents experience. When I conducted research within the Sydney-based homeschooling community, I found that most homeschooling parents have the same challenges.
Parents wanted to have:
- Information about local community gatherings, events and workshops
- Reminders for upcoming events
- Record keeping/photo uploads/notes
- Ability to organise social events: meet-ups, workshops, excursions, forums and camps.
- Option to invite/send information about the events to close contacts or to public groups without using Facebook
- Report generation tool to quickly create a report based on all private/community/public events, workshops and educational activities participated by children during the year. And use this report for the next homeschooling registration and keep it as a child’s education journal
That is how the Scoolendar came into life to assist homeschooling parents with all those tasks. It is a not-for-profit project and free web-based application that offers many opportunities to homeschooling parents. It helps to connect to the local community, access social and educational events, stay organised and save all of the events in one document for you to use during your next registration or to keep as a lovely memory of your homeschooling family history.
Most of the app functions are free, and a few extra features are paid to assist with the current financial requirements of Scoolendar.
If you wish to collaborate with us, please, contact us via the “Contact” page.
We’re also open to all ideas and suggestions!
Kind regards,
Karina Bright and the team of experts from the homeschooling community.
